SUMMARY:Research Statements for Research-Intensive Universities: A Panel Discussion
DESCRIPTION:This session features a panel of three early career researchers who recently successfully obtained tenure-track faculty positions\, talking about how they approached writing a successful research statement for a research-intensive (or R1) university job application. Through questions and discussion\, learn how to craft a focused and compelling research plan that will describe your areas of focus\, past contributions\, and plans for future work directions up to tenure. As time allows\, we will also touch on describing your research in interviews as well as application materials. \nPanelists: \n\nDr. Natasha Raheja\, Postdoctoral Associate and incoming Assistant Professor of Anthropology\, Cornell University\nDr. Terrence Bell\, Assistant Professor of Plant Pathology and Environmental Microbiology\, Penn State\nDr. Ana Maria Porras\, Presidential Postdoctoral Fellow\, Cornell University (and incoming Assistant Professor of Biomedical Engineering at University of Florida)\n\nPre-registration is required in order to receive the link to participate via Zoom. \nCo-sponsored by the Office of Postdoctoral Studies and Future Faculty and Academic Careers\, as part of the Graduate School’s Academic Job Search Series. \nAccommodations: We strive to make our events accessible to all community members.
