SUMMARY:CIRTL Network: Facilitating Work-Life Balance and Resilience
DESCRIPTION:In this interactive online session\, participants will have an opportunity to examine their current work-life balance and to develop a plan to be more resilient and to sustain the support systems that will enable them to establish their desired work-life balance. At the end of this workshop\, participants will be able to: \n\n\n\nDefine what work-life balance means generally and personally;\nIdentify the characteristics of resilient people;\nIdentify resources to develop and sustain support networks and processes for well-being;\nMap individual work/life priorities and develop strategies for integrating and completing them successfully\n\n\n\nMore information at https://www.cirtl.net/events/708 \nWorkshop Schedule\nThis one-part workshop meets online on Tuesday\, February 18 at 1-2:30PM ET / 12-1:30PM CT / 11AM-12:30PM MT / 10-11:30AM PT. \nRegistration & Enrollment\nThis workshop is limited to 40 participants. Registration opens Monday\, December 16 and will close on Friday\, February 14 at 12PM CT. DESCRIPTION:We all hear about the importance of self-care and\, in particular\, sleep. But many of us continue to struggle finding our internal place of deep rest and renewal. This place is not only where our nervous system resets\, but also where our creativity\, zest\, truest voice\, and zone of genius dwell – boons to any academic writer\, teacher\, and change-maker. It is also from this place that clarity of purpose arises about our role in social transformation. In this workshop we explore the idea and practice of “resting to rise” for academics. We introduce yoga nidra – what it is\, what it does\, its relevance to faculty\, and\, most importantly\, how to try it and even fit it in to your already-full schedule. DESCRIPTION:This is an invitation-only event for applicants who have been selected to participate in this year’s NextGen Professors cohort. \nNextGen Professors is a career-development program focused on preparing Cornell doctoral students and postdocs for faculty careers across institutional types. The primary audience for this program is doctoral students (in year 3 or beyond) and postdocs from backgrounds historically underrepresented in the professoriate\, and/or those with a demonstrated commitment to advancing diversity\, inclusion\, access and equity in the academy. Participants are members of a cohort who together engage in series of professional and career development activities including monthly NextGen Professors cohort meetings\, Power Mentoring Sessions with faculty\, and the Future Professors Institute.
