Registration opens May 15 for summer CIRTL Network courses

Registration is now open for summer institutes on teaching and professional development from the from the Center for the Integration of Research, Teaching, and Learning (CIRTL) Network. Additionally, summer courses, workshops and event series will open for registration on Monday, May 15. Gain skills, knowledge, and experience to be an inclusive and effective educator at the university level. All programming is online unless otherwise noted. Participation is free for Cornell registrants and alumni up to event registration maximums.

Johns Hopkins Teaching Institute (in person)
The Johns Hopkins University (JHU) Teaching Institute is a multi-day teaching institute designed to help doctoral students and post-docs become successful and confident classroom teachers. The in-person version of this institute meets in Baltimore, MD from May 31 to June 2. Cap: 10 CIRTL participants. Read more and register for JHU in-person.
Johns Hopkins Teaching Institute
The Johns Hopkins Teaching Institute is a multi-day teaching institute designed to help doctoral students and post-docs become successful and confident classroom teachers. The online version of this institute takes place from June 6 to June 9. Cap: 25 CIRTL participants. Read more and register for JHU online.
Change Leadership for Inclusive Teaching and Learning
This 10-week synchronous online course aims to strengthen undergraduate STEM education by preparing graduate students, postdoctoral scholars, and early career-faculty to be change agents in their roles in higher education. Sessions take place in Zoom on Thursdays from June 1 through August 3 at 1-2:30PM ET. Cap: 40. Registration runs from May 15 until capacity is reached. Read more about Change Leadership.
Basics of Online Learning and Teaching (BOLT)
This blended 10-week course walks students through online course development in a mix of synchronous and asynchronous activities. Sessions take place in Zoom on Mondays from June 5 through August 7 at 12-1:30PM ET. Cap: 30. Registration runs May 15 until capacity is reached. Read more about BOLT.
First Year Faculty Teaching Academy (FYFTA)
This intensive course is designed for future faculty and early career faculty in their first years of teaching interested in learning how to create a great learning experience for your students while developing a solid foundation of best teaching practices and strategies. Sessions take place in Zoom on Tuesdays and Thursdays from June 6 through June 22 at 2:30-4:30PM ET. Cap: 60. Registration runs May 15 until capacity is reached. Read more about FYFTA.
Planning Your Teaching-as-Research Project
Jumpstart your plans for a Teaching-as-Research (TAR) project in this 6-week flipped course designed to guide participants through developing a research question, identifying project methods and outcomes, and more. An Introduction to Evidence-Based Undergraduate STEM Teaching
An Introduction to Evidence-Based Undergraduate STEM Teaching is a massive open, online course (MOOC) designed to provide graduate students, postdoctoral scholars, and other aspiring faculty in STEM disciplines with an overview of effective college teaching strategies and the research that supports them. Using Teaching-as-Research to Advance Equitable Educational Experiences: The LTD-TAR Connection
Join us for a two-part workshop that invites participants to consider how they might use CIRTL’s “teaching-as-research” framework to advance equitable educational experiences (i.e., learning through diversity or LTD).
